What happens from first call to handover.
No mystery, no vague timelines. This is the exact process we follow on every project — what we do at each stage and what we need from you.
The process
Six steps, every project.
The steps are the same whether you're installing a 1 kWp home solar system or drilling a 120 m borehole for a school. The timeline varies; the process doesn't.

01
Free site survey
We visit your site at no charge. For solar, we assess your roof or ground mounting options, shading, roof condition and your electricity usage. For boreholes, we review existing geology data and identify optimal drilling sites. For electrical, we inspect the existing installation and determine the full scope of work. This is where we ask questions — the more we understand your situation, the more accurate the quote.
What we need from you- —Confirm the site visit date and time
- —Provide access to all relevant areas (roof, DB board, borehole site)
- —Your most recent electricity bill (solar)
- —Your daily water requirement if known (boreholes)
-
02
Itemised quote
We prepare a detailed written quote — not a ballpark figure. The quote lists equipment by model number and specification, labour broken down by trade, any third-party permit fees and logistics costs for remote sites. We explain what drives each line item so you can compare alternatives or adjust the scope if needed. We don't quote low to win work and adjust later.
What we need from you- —Review the quote and ask questions before signing
- —Confirm the quote in writing (email or WhatsApp) to proceed
-
03
Permits & procurement
We submit permit applications as required — WRA drilling permit for boreholes, KPLC applications for new connections. We procure all specified equipment from verified suppliers. While the WRA permit is being processed (2–4 weeks), procurement runs in parallel to minimise total project time. We keep you updated on delivery status.
What we need from you- —Pay the deposit as confirmed in the quote
- —Sign and return any WRA permit application forms (boreholes)
- —Pay permit fees directly to WRA (we provide the account details)
-
04
Installation
Our crews arrive on the agreed date. All work is carried out by our own staff — we don't subcontract. For solar, this means structural mounting, cabling, inverter and battery installation, and DB integration. For boreholes, drilling, casing, development, test pumping, pump installation and piping. For electrical, the complete agreed scope. We follow a site safety induction before any work begins and keep the site clean throughout.
What we need from you- —Site access as agreed
- —Water available on site for drilling (boreholes)
- —Keep the working area clear for our crew
-
05
Testing & commissioning
Before we leave, every system is tested under working conditions. Solar systems are run through a full charge/discharge cycle. Boreholes are test-pumped to establish reliable yield data; water samples are submitted to an accredited laboratory for analysis. All electrical work is tested to EPRA wiring regulations before energisation. We won't sign off on a system we haven't tested.
What we need from you- —Be present during commissioning if possible
- —Ask questions about operation and maintenance before we leave
-
06
Handover & documentation
We hand over the completed system with a full documentation pack: as-built drawings, equipment data sheets, warranty cards, test certificates (electrical compliance certificate, borehole completion report, water quality report as applicable). We walk you through basic operation and maintenance. Balance of payment is due on handover.
What we need from you- —Pay the balance as stated in the quote
- —Keep the documentation pack in a safe place
- —Register your warranty with the equipment manufacturer
Permits
What we handle. What you pay.
We prepare and submit all permit paperwork. Permit fees are paid directly by you to the relevant authority — we provide the account details. No markup on permit fees.
| Permit | Who applies | Who pays fee |
|---|---|---|
| WRA drilling permit | Chimtech prepares; you sign | Client, to WRA directly |
| WRA abstraction licence | Chimtech prepares; you sign | Client, to WRA directly |
| KPLC connection | Chimtech prepares | Client, to KPLC directly |
| EPRA electrical certificate | Chimtech (issued on completion) | Included in our quote |
| NEMA EIA (if required) | NEMA-registered practitioner | Client (we advise on need) |
